Symbol search feature has been introduced in Market Watch to enable the user to conveniently search and add a particular scrip or symbol
The feature can be accessed by clicking the ‘+’ sign that appears on the left hand border in the header of the Market Watch window.This can also be done through use of short cut key Ctrl + F3
On click of the ‘+’ sign the text box to input the below syntax is available. Next to it is the drop down in which user can select ‘Equity’ or ‘Commodity’ or ‘All’ to search the symbols based on the selected asset class. User can set this selection as default at Tools > Preferences > Market Watch > Symbol Search

The following are syntax (and corresponding examples) based on which symbols for a particular segment are identified. The feature is user friendly and intuitive.
As the user starts to type the syntax in the symbol search text box, the symbol list confirming to the syntax will be prompted to the user in order to make the required selection.
BSE Equity
Symbol.BSE (e.g. TCS.BSE )
OR
Scripcode.BSE (e.g. 532540.BSE)
NSE Equity
-
Symbol.NSE (e.g. TCS.NSE )
The above is applicable whether a scrip is listed in either EQ, BE or DR Series -
Symbol series.NSE (e.g. TCS N1. NSE)
The above is applicable in case a scrip is also listed in series other than EQ, BE or DR such as N1
NSE Futures
Symbol NEAR. NSE (e.g. TCS NEAR.NSE)
Symbol NEXT. NSE (e.g. TCS NEXT.NSE)
Symbol FAR.NSE (e.g. TCS FAR.NSE)
The symbols with their respective expiries NEAR / NEXT / FAR are identified by the above syntax in NSE futures segment
NSE Options

CALL option
C.Symbol Month StrikePrice.NSE (e.g. C.TCS NOV 1000.NSE)
‘C’ denotes Call option. The above syntax starting with the letter ‘C’ followed by symbol and relevant information enables the user to identify and add - Call option for TCS relating to November expiry with a strike price of 1000 on NSE -
Put option
P.Symbol Month StrikePrice.NSE (e.g. P.TCS NOV 1000.NSE)
‘P’ denotes Put option. Similarly, the above syntax enables the user to identify and add – Put option for TCS relating to November expiry with a strike price of 1000 on NSE -
Adding all strike prices for call option relating to a series
C.Symbol Month #.NSE (e.g. C.TCS NOV#.NSE)
The above selection with the # sign will enable the user to add the call options for all the strike prices relating to the November expiry for the mentioned symbol -
Adding all strike prices for put option relating to a series
P.Symbol Month #.NSE (e.g. P.TCS NOV#.NSE)
The above selection with the # sign will enable the user to add the put options for all the strike prices relating to the November expiry for the mentioned symbol
Indices & Pre-defined Indices

Index.BSE (e.g. BSE-100.BSE)
The above enables the user to identify and add BSE-100 index in Market Watch -
Index#.BSE (e.g. BSE-100#.BSE)
The above syntax with the # sign enables user to add all the constituent scrips comprising in the required index to Market Watch

The above syntax enables the user to identify the Gold contract on COMEX with October 2010 expiry. The symbol by default will be for ETH session -
Symbol Expiry RTH. COMEX (e.g. GC V10 RTH.COMEX)
The above syntax enables user to add Gold contract for RTH session on COMEX with October 2010 expiry
The two above syntax enable the user to add individual futures contract on COMEX
Symbol NEAR.COMEX (e.g. GC NEAR.COMEX)
Symbol NEXT.COMEX (e.g. GC NEXT.COMEX)
Symbol FAR.COMEX (e.g. GC FAR.COMEX)

NYMEX Futures

The above syntax enables the user to identify the Crude Oil contract on NYMEX with December 2010 expiry. The symbol by default will be for ETH session -
Symbol Expiry RTH. NYMEX (e.g. CL F11 RTH.NYMEX)
The above syntax enables user to add Crude Oil contract for RTH session on NYMEX with December 2010 expiry
The two above syntax enable the user to add individual futures contract on NYMEX
